22: Creativity in arts & crafts

Teaching creativity is indeed a complex issue. It calls for an indirect approach, where many kinds of assignments and experiments play a major role. It might be better to say that creativity can be encouraged, nurtured, and practiced, and some of the best ways to do this is through arts & crafts. In this chapter you will learn how we in Finland support creativity through arts and how to help the child to enjoy arts & crafts to the maximum.
